World of Warcraft Shadowlands: What Rewards Are Awaiting You During the Pre-Release Event?

February 18, 2021

We reveal what rewards await you at the pre-release event for World of Warcraft. Shadowlands pre-release event. The pre-release event will kick off on November 11, 2020, and you'll be able to get item-level 100 gear for your characters, among other things.

Although pre-patch 9.0.1 for World of Warcraft has been live for the past month, the big pre-release event called "Tide of Death" is still a bit of a wait. In the morning hours of November 11, 2020, the in-game event will finally kick off here on land. Besides some new quests and the invasion of the Scourge, you can expect several interesting rewards. We would like to introduce you to the most important items.

During the event, you will travel to the Icecrown, where you will not only have to complete several missions, but also earn a new in-game currency - Argent Commendations. You will receive these for completing the primary quest series and as payment for daily quests. In return, you can buy equipment from the corresponding merchant, the individual parts of which are set at item level 100. This puts it on the same level as the loot from the raid instance "Ny'alotha" and is great for returning players to equip their characters. It should also be the quickest way for twink characters to catch up in terms of gear. Each item costs 15 commendations, and the full set costs 135 commendations.

In addition, 20 commendations will buy you the Festering Haunt. This is a special battle pet that looks a bit like Gollum from The Lord of the Rings. For 15 commendations, you can get the Antiapocalyptic Broom, which is supposed to help clean up minor patches of the plague on the ground. It's also possible to grab a special bag with 34 inventory slots - Dad's mint bag. It can drop as loot after fighting the elite NPC Bronjahm, but he only appears in the Icecrown region every 400 minutes. Also, the drop chance isn't too high, so you'll probably have to defeat him a few times before you can dust off the bag.

After a short postponement last month, the MMO expansion World of Warcraft: Shadowlands is scheduled for release in Europe on November 24, 2020. But even before the release, the latest add-on has managed to set a small record. This was revealed by Bobby Kotick, the CEO of publisher Activision Blizzard, during an investor conference. According to his statements, pre-sales have been excellent so far:

"We've seen unprecedented trends since the number of subscribers doubled following the launch of World of Warcraft Classic last year. Pre-sales for the upcoming Shadowlands expansion have reached the highest level of any previous release at this time before release."

Kotick did not give specific numbers. However, it is quite clear from this statement that interest in the now 16-year-old online role-playing game seems to remain very high. Almost in passing, the CEO also mentioned that World of Warcraft is one of the few Activision Blizzard brands to generate over a billion dollars in revenue per year. The only other brand in this category is the Call of Duty shooter series.
