The gem of Fate Scribe Roh-Kalo from the Sanctum of Domination
was extremely popular not only among tanks. Especially during progression through the still current raid in WoW, some classes relied on the web of warped fates. Some early tactics even made the Trinket a must-have. This was because it allowed players to die and then simply resurrect themselves. Without the resurrection counting as a "Battle Rez"!This allowed some mechanics to be ignored, which simplified fights considerably in places and was exploited to the extreme, especially for first kills
. However, the Trinket, which is actually meant for tanks, has a very dramatic disadvantage. Because you first have to revive yourself manually after your death - very similar to the Ankh of the Shaman. And that leads to some problems.Since you have to "die" first, you lose most buffs and debuffs. This alone ensures that tanks will have some problems when puddles are suddenly dropped uncontrollably at Sylvanas. Most of all, however, the fact that death causes the threat to be lost and enemies keep hitting teammates until the tank has revived and the aggro is safe again makes the Trinket a poor choice in mythic dungeons.
Many tanks therefore still rely on Shattered Heart of Al'ar - a gem from the past raid Castle Nathria. Here you don't really "die", but survive the deadly attack.
With the upcoming patch 9.2, however, the gossamer will now work the same way:
Why is Blizzard changing this now?
Possibly, and this is just a speculation from the community, the developers want to give the tanks a little help in the upcoming raid Mausoleum of the First. Because especially at the beginning of the progression, such a "cheat death mechanic" is extremely strong for the tanks. A short death, on the other hand, usually results in a quick wipe.
