WoW: Curious world record - in night elf somersault

March 15, 2022

Even in the early days of the online role-playing game World of Warcraft, WoW fans were happy as punch that their heroes could jump without stopping. Players who were bored during raid lead explanations, for example, took it upon themselves to try to jump with their heroes to places that were actually considered impossible to climb.

For example the broken column in the boss room of Nefarian in BWL. Or the heaps of crates at Razuvious in Naxxramas. Some people even installed - we won't say who - a WoW addon that was only there to count the character jumps.

Just sayin': There is a puzzle with Nefarian and Kel'Thuzad ^^

World record in night elf somersaults - consecutively

Night elf and blood elf fans know that their characters in WoW (buy now )

have something special. Because with every jump, chance decides whether your hero simply jumps up or performs a spin. In the case of the night elves, these are somersaults.

And here it comes:

WoW fan SingActDirect stood around in Westfall with his Night Elf Druid, seemingly unsuspecting, and then started to jump. One somersault followed the other until SingActDirect's druid finally jumped again without somersaulting on the 18th jump. SingActDirect did some quick Googling and found: The previous night's back-to-back somersault record was 16, so he had beaten the old "world record" by one somersault - and fortunately captured it on video. Why fortunately?

My somersault is not your somersault

WoW doesn't display a character's jump animations the same to all bystanders. In other words, you could do 30 consecutive spinning jumps with your blood elf and other players won't see it on their screen the way you do. Accordingly, SingActDirect was lucky to have just caught this stroke of luck on video, because no bystanders would have been able to confirm his somersault record.

By the way

, according to Reddit commenters, the chance of 17 night elf somersaults in a row is 0.0007 percent. With each jump, there's a 50 percent chance that a somersault will be triggered - and that adds up per jump, or down in that case.Support buffed - it only takes a minute. Thanks!
