Chances are very good that Blizzard officials will officially announce Classic servers for The Burning Crusade at BlizzCon Online on February 19. There are at least more than enough hints for it. One of the most significant changes in the first WoW expansion is the introduction of flying. How excited the community was about this at the end of 2006 is nicely shown by a buffed article from that time with the headline "Burning Crusade - Beta: We've spotted the first flying mounts!" as well as the numerous comments under the news.

In this TBC Classic special, we would like to introduce you to the various mounts and flying pets that made their debut in Outland. Surely many of you already have one or the other animal in mind, which should definitely be in the stable with TBC Classic. Before listing all the TBC mounts, here's a brief overview of the TBC changes and new features that affect flying and riding in Azeroth.

Flying and riding in TBC - this is new

The TBC era brought two new riding and flying licenses to the game. For the normal flying and a suitable mount you have to invest a total of 900 gold. If you don't feel like moving through the new zones at a sneaky pace, you'll have to spend 5,000 gold for the fast flying license and another 200 gold pieces for an appropriate mount. The only exception is that druids will learn a new flying form at level 68 that will allow them to fly through the air. Other new features/changes implemented during the first expansion:

  • With patch 2.1, druids received a new quest line for the epic flight form. Those who do or have done the quest line will be allowed to summon the boss Anzu in Sethekk Halls (Heroic) (chance to earn the Raven Lord mount)Starting in patch 2.1, you will be able to complete the Netherwing faction quest line to earn a Nether Dragon mount.Starting in patch 2.1.2, druids in flight form will no longer be able to pick herbs.Starting in patch 2.4.3, normal mounts are available at level 30, training costs 35 gold.

The New Mounts of the TBC Era

Although players primarily moved through Outland by flying, the TBC era also saw the addition of several new normal mounts.

The mounts of the blood elves and draenei
